big ole' giants

I have recently come across those people, what does the book "The Alchamesit" call them...dream crashers or something? Giants? I think. At any rate, those big giants that stand in the way of your dream and purpose testing your determination, wit, and perserverence are the ones I'm thinking of right now. Ohhh these giants make me mad! And sometimes they make me doubt too which after a little time to process makes me even MORE mad!!!

The specific giant I'm thinking about is also a "good friend"...the worst kind of giant because they act like they care about what is best for you but really they are only concerned what is best for them and having you be what makes them most comfortable is their main concern. Not your path, not your growth and certainly not your happiness. Maybe not such a good friend after all eh? In my twenties I may have listened to them and changed course but not anymore.

OUT OF MY WAY GIANT! Life is just too short to let people stand in your path... or money or excuses or fear for that matter. They are funny these giants and can mask themselves in all sorts of ways- all with the same goal in mind: to keep you from realizing your true potential. The giants hate when people do that because then they become joyful and that joy leads to powerful and no one can be more powerful than these giants. So they say :) But guess what big guys? I will never apologize or back down from going after what I want. If it makes you uncomfortable, like me less or so angry steam comes out of your ears...well, that is a sad but your "stuff" that I can't work out for you.

To all those giants out there, past present and future....BUGGER OFF because I come armed with fists, courage, strength, and determination in finding my way to happy. And to all my dream seekers out there...who are the giants in your life? Recognize them and beware to battle them with your own passion, power, and beautiful purpose!

Susan Boyle "Up To The Mountain"

A little inspiration for moi et tu

You know those days or weeks when you just feel low and no matter how many yoga classes you take, how many ben and jerry flavors you try or how many episodes of Gilmore Girls you watch you just still can't seem to get back to the positive, happy you? I've had one of those weeks. I got hit with the flu for the 2nd time this month and am stressed from working too many jobs and still not making the money I want in a job that I absolutely love. It's getting to me or I'm letting it get to me...either way I'm ready for a change but can't see one approaching just yet. Feeling sad and discouraged.

It's moments like these that I reach out for the big gun inspiration stories. The E Hollywood stories, the autobiographies, the music of legends to remind me that dreams really do come true and there is power in persistence and going after what you believe in no matter how trying...and today I found some major uplifting from the one and only Susan Boyle.

I talk about my love for her a lot and this is why. This lady at 49 years is finally seeing her dream realized. Her voice that she has had for this long has now found its place and her message is now being heard. And it was right on time for her life. And if you've ever heard her sing, you know exactly what I mean. Her voice and her face tells a story she would never have been able to tell had she been discovered any earlier. There is truth, experience, joy, sorrow, a life lived in her voice.

It's so easy to get caught up in the game of "I should have this by now or I dream of this why isn't it happening yet... maybe it's not in my plan." These big dream expectations though give us so much inspiration, excitement and hope can also bring us suffering and heartache when we become too attached and out of balance with them. These thoughts seem to overtake us and leave us hopeless and thinking that this big plan is all up to us. Its then that I need to remember in God's plan/the universe or whatever you want to call it. I'm sure Susan Boyle may have had moments of wanting to give up or thinking her voice wasn't good enough to be heard but she kept taking chances even at 49, trusting in her gift and trusting in God's plan for her.

We each have a gift, a voice, a dream. I believe sadness and stress come when we get into the thought patterns that we won't be able to use them, aren't using them enough, think we have to give up on them to be something more suitable or replace one dream for another dream out of the belief that we "can't have it all." Its people like susan boyle that help shake me up and get me back out there. Even if its in a small way, a small step toward a dream is better than no step at all. My grams always told me that if God gives you a gift it is your responsibility to use it to help others and spread God's love and light with it. I think she was right.

Its up to me and each of us to get ourselves out there and let our light shine and use our gifts each day however small it may be. Having faith in Gods plan (whatever that may be...believing that is it is right for each of us and right on time) and surrendering with gratitude for all the gifts in our lives, is the place where peace, joy, and purpose live.

Susan Boyle, I think my Grams would have really loved you too.
